The Artist of Translation: VigenTadevosyan

Research Exhibition
May 29-July 29, 2015

Translation is often tied to a need that emerges from the split between the “I” and the “other”. Relationality is a question of translation. When does translation become an artistic act? It becomes one when there is a need to work with this split. Vigen Tadevosyan is a translator artist. His main artistic concern is “self-cognition,” and translation is his primary method of achieving this. The exhibit aims to view the artist’s act through the lens of the single problem of translation, and emphasize the moment when the artist becomes a translator, while translation becomes an artistic act.

This exhibition is the first in a series initiated and financed by The Club Gallery. The initiative is realized in partnership with the Institute for Contemporary Art in Yerevan.
