The Johannissyan Institute’s Divan Project includes digitization and classification of Soviet Armenian writer Vahan Grigoryan’s (1905-1989) archive. The archive was originally developed by the writer’s daughter Nvard Grigoryan. The Institute implements digitization and classification of part of the transcripts and minutes from the meetings and discussions of the Armenian Writers’ Union in the 1950-60s, documents showing the work of the Armenian State Publishing House in the same period, reviews of book proposals presented to the Publishing House by its various editors as well as part of Vahan Grigoryan’s letters. The materials are an important source for representing the literary and political contexts of 1950-60s’ Soviet Armenia. They reveal the internal turmoil of both official and intellectual spheres and provide insights into a time when a stratum of professional editors was being formed.
